Advertiser Disclosure
How FundingRank makes money, and the specific mechanisms that stop it from reaching the editorial product. Written to be checked, not just read.
FundingRank may be paid when a reader goes to a provider through one of our links. Our editorial policy keeps compensation separate from product facts, editorial conclusions and provider coverage. We do not calculate a lender-wide star rating.
This summary is for orientation only. The numbered sections below are the operative terms.
1. How FundingRank is paid
Silent West, which operates FundingRank.com, may earn a referral fee from some of the providers featured on this site. Depending on the agreement, a fee may be earned when a reader clicks through to a provider, submits an application, or is funded. Amounts differ by provider and by product.
We may also sell advertising or sponsored placement in the future. If we do, it will be labeled as advertising where it appears and kept separate from editorial research.
Not every provider on this site has a commercial relationship with us. Many of the lenders we research have no commercial relationship with FundingRank.
2. What compensation does not buy
Our editorial policy prohibits compensation from determining any of the following:
- product requirements, pricing or source records;
- the Application Privacy Grade;
- objective comparison fields or editorial inclusion;
- the pros, cons, verdict or "falls short" findings on a review;
- which providers we review, or whether an unflattering finding is published;
- whether we publish a correction against a provider that pays us.
A commercial relationship also does not entitle a provider to review a draft, suppress a finding, or delay publication. We will correct a factual error for any provider, paying or not, on the same terms: send the published source and we will check it against the record.
3. How that separation is enforced
Sponsorship and affiliate status are stored separately from product requirements, source records and application-research fields. Commercial status is not used to populate eligibility or pricing facts.
Sources and review dates are published alongside the research so readers and providers can audit the record. The full research standard is on the methodology page.
4. How paid placement is labeled
Any placement we are paid to feature carries an advertising label adjacent to the placement itself, not only on this page. Pages that contain compensated links carry a short advertiser disclosure near the top, linking here.
Editorial research and paid placements are visually distinct and never mixed into a single ordered list without a label. If you ever cannot tell which one you are looking at, that is a defect — tell us at hello@fundingrank.com and we will fix it.
5. How providers are chosen for coverage
We review providers because readers are researching them — based on search demand, category importance and the questions we receive — not because of a commercial conversation. A review is published on the same terms whether or not a referral relationship exists, and existing coverage is never withdrawn because a provider objects to a finding.
Coverage is not exhaustive. The absence of a provider from this site is not a judgment about that provider, and readers should not treat our lists as the complete market.
6. What our links transmit
Provider links may pass through a FundingRank redirect before opening the provider's site. That redirect records a random click identifier, the lender and placement, basic campaign parameters, device category and destination host. Where a commercial agreement is active, the click identifier may be passed to the provider so a conversion they report can be reconciled to a click.
We do not need — and do not transmit — your name, email address, phone number, application answers or banking information to measure a click. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not operate as a lead generator. Our Privacy Policy sets this out in full.
7. What FundingRank is not
FundingRank is an independent publisher of business financing research. We are not a lender, a loan broker, a bank, an insurance producer, a credit repair organization, or a financial, legal or tax advisor. We do not originate, underwrite, service or fund any loan or line of credit, and we do not accept applications for credit.
Rates, fees, terms, minimum requirements and availability shown on this site come from the provider and can change without notice. Nothing here is an offer of credit, a commitment to lend, or a guarantee that you will be approved or receive any particular rate. Only the agreement you sign with a provider governs your financing.
8. Regulatory basis for this disclosure
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255) and the FTC's guidance on clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections. Where a provider's own partner program or a regulator imposes additional or stricter disclosure requirements on a specific placement, those requirements are applied to that placement in addition to this page.
FundingRank does not originate, broker or arrange credit, so it does not hold a lending, brokerage or NMLS license, and it does not represent itself as licensed to do any of those things.
9. Questions and corrections
If you believe a commercial relationship is undisclosed, mislabeled or described incorrectly anywhere on this site, write to hello@fundingrank.com. Providers and their compliance teams are welcome to use the same address.
