Privacy Policy
What FundingRank collects, what it does not collect, and what leaves this site. Written by a publisher whose entire subject is what happens to a small business owner's data after they fill in a form.
We do not sell your personal information. We are not a lead generator and we do not pass your details to lenders. We collect very little: what you type into a form you choose to send us, an account email if you create one, and ordinary analytics about how pages are used. When you click through to a provider, you leave our site and their privacy policy takes over.
This summary is for orientation only. The numbered sections below are the operative terms.
1. Scope
This policy explains how Silent Rich LLC ("FundingRank," "we," "us") handles information in connection with FundingRank.com. It covers this website only. It does not cover any lender, bank, card issuer, marketplace or other third party you reach from here — each of those has its own privacy policy, and what you give them is governed by their documents.
2. What we are not doing with your data
FundingRank is a publisher, not a lead generator. This is the whole editorial premise of the site, so it is worth stating in the operative section rather than the marketing copy:
- We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information as a lead.
- We do not take credit applications and do not want your application data.
- We do not pass your name, email address or phone number to lenders, brokers, marketplaces or lead buyers.
- We do not pull your credit and cannot affect your credit score.
- We do not need an email address or a phone number to show you anything on this site.
Tools such as the funding quiz and the cost calculators run in your browser. The figures you enter to get a result are not transmitted to us or to any provider unless you separately choose to send us something.
3. Information we collect
Information you choose to give us.
- Contact and correction messages: the name, email address and message you type into the contact form.
- Borrower reports: what you submit about an application experience, plus any documentation you attach. Please redact anything you do not want us to hold — we ask you not to send account numbers, Social Security or tax identification numbers, credentials, or full application documents.
- Account and saved research: if you sign in to save research, the email address associated with your sign-in and the items you save.
Information collected automatically.
- Standard server and analytics data: pages viewed, referring page, approximate region derived from IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps.
- Outbound click data: when you use a link to a provider, we record a random click identifier, which lender and placement it came from, campaign parameters, device category and destination host — so we can measure which research readers act on and reconcile any referral fee.
We do not collect Social Security numbers, bank account or card numbers, credit reports or credit scores, and we do not receive your application from any provider.
4. How we use information
- To operate the site and deliver the pages and tools you ask for.
- To answer your message or process a correction you send us.
- To moderate, verify and, where appropriate, publish borrower reports — edited and redacted, and aggregated into statistics that identify no individual.
- To understand in aggregate which research is useful, so we can improve it.
- To measure referral clicks and reconcile compensation from providers.
- To protect the site against abuse, fraud and security incidents, and to comply with law.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run behavioral advertising on this site.
6. Clicking through to a provider
When you follow a link to a lender or other provider, you leave FundingRank.com. Anything you enter there — including an application — goes to that company under its terms and privacy policy, not ours, and we have no control over it or visibility into it.
Because that hand-off is where most of the damage happens to small business owners, we publish an Application Privacy Grade for each lender we review, and we quote each provider's own data-sharing and opt-out language on its review page so you can read it before you submit anything.
8. Your choices
- You can use nearly all of this site without giving us anything.
- You can ask us to delete a borrower report you submitted, or to unpublish it.
- You can ask us to delete your account and saved research.
- If we ever send email you did not ask for, every message will carry an unsubscribe link that works.
Email hello@fundingrank.com for any of these.
9. State privacy rights
Residents of California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have rights over their personal information. Depending on your state, these may include the right to know what we have collected, to access a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, to opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and not to be discriminated against for exercising a right.
To exercise any of these, email hello@fundingrank.com with the request and the state you reside in. We will verify the request by replying to the email address on file, respond within the period your state's law requires, and tell you if we need an extension. An authorized agent may submit a request with written proof of authority. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to the appeal in writing.
California residents may also request the categories of personal information collected, the categories of sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties to whom it was disclosed — all of which are described in sections 3 through 5 above.
10. Sale and sharing of personal information
Silent Rich LLC does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, or under any comparable state law. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
We also do not sell or share the personal information of minors under 16, because we do not knowingly collect it.
11. Retention
We keep contact messages and borrower reports for as long as needed to answer, verify, publish and defend the research they relate to, and to meet our legal obligations. Account data is kept while the account is active and deleted on request. Analytics and outbound-click records are kept in aggregate or de-identified form for measurement, and are not tied to a named individual.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the small amount of personal information we hold, including transport encryption and access controls. The single most effective control is that we do not collect sensitive financial data in the first place. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children
The site is intended for adults researching business financing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, email hello@fundingrank.com and we will delete it.
14. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and we will describe material changes on this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept it.
