Before You Compare Direct Business Lenders
Identify the contracting entity
The brand collecting the application, legal lender and servicer may be different companies. Read the offer and disclosures to identify each role. A directory classification is a starting point, not a promise that every product comes from the same entity.
Ask about referrals
A provider may refer an application it cannot fund. Ask whether that happens automatically, which companies receive information and whether you can limit further shopping. A direct application does not itself establish restricted data sharing or contact.
Compare offers on one basis
Use the same requested amount and expected time to repay. Compare net proceeds, payment dates, total cost and early payoff. Published maximum amounts and best-case funding times are conditional advertising claims, not individual offers.
Check liability and servicing
Review guarantee scope, collateral, liens, default terms and how servicing questions are handled. Identify who can provide a payoff quote and how to correct account or reporting errors. Keep a dated copy of the agreement and application consent.
